Alternative microtonal musical pitch organization might be challenging and might go from relatively familiar sounding intervals up to completely unheard chords. This can be also determined in case of the Bohlen-Pierce scale. While incompatible with the intervals of fifth and octave, it preserves other usual intervals instead and establishes a fairly unfamiliar triad but with astonishingly clear consonancy. This novel tonal world might be brought to life with specifically designed instruments: the Bohlen-Pierce clarinet and guitar, DIY modified recorder flutes, a retuned keyboard synthesizer and retuned string instruments. Both a theoretically based harmonic approach more suitable for composition as even free improvisation will give the ability to become familiar with this unusual scale.
