THE ANNUAL VICE PHOTO ISSUE plus THE FIRST EVER “SLAYER RULES” EXHIBITION

The Photo Issue
Vice has gained worldwide recognition, not only for its unique perspective on the issues in the world and exclusive stories, but also for its characteristic photography.

Vice has been the media for breaking new photo talents and the breeding ground for world-renowned photographers such as Terry Richardson, Ryan McGinley, Richard Kern and Jerry Hsu. Vice has been the place for them to publish the pictures that simply wouldn’t fit in anywhere else.

Vice released the first oversized Photo Issue in 2001, and it has since become an annual tradition and a highly sought after collectible. The Photo Issue has spawned a number of well received exhibitions featuring images by contributing photographers. This year’s cover for the international edition of the Photo Issue was shot by Swedish artist Ragnar Persson.

Slayer Rules
This year will see the first-ever Nordic photo tour, and the photographer chosen is Finnish born Sanna Charles. Sanna is currently working as a photographer in the UK, and has spent the last 10 years of her life following the heavy metal band Slayer around the world, taking photographs of them and their fans. Her subjects are curiously fanatical and the portraits of them individually or in groups are nothing short of incredible. This has turned into the ever evolving project “Slayer Rules” and this will be the first time Sanna is exhibiting in Sweden.

Following the success and critical acclaim of the Photo Issue and exhibitions, there has been Vice Galleries opened in London and in Berlin. Later this year Vice will also publish its first photo book with contributing photographer Peter Beste.
