“I wanted to keep holding onto you and you onto me”

Taika Sorjonen (they/them) is a self-identified freak bitch and lover baby. For Myymälä 2’s process wall exhibition i wrote this a year ago, they seek to explore text-based installation on the topic of loving.

Sorjonen approaches their work from a previous background in politics, graduating in Political Science and Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2023. Their work is undeniably relevant to criticisms of systems of power and minority identity and experience, seeking to understand the intersection of these concepts through sound, text, video and photo. They currently study at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts.
