Workshop: A Book in a Day with Karl Larsson / PUUT LIBRARY
Sunday 16th nov
12:00–15:30

Together we’ll create a collective book — a mix of participants’ photos and words — made, printed, and bound on-site during the session.

Bring your own photos and texts — or create new ones during the workshop. We’ll design a minimalist layout together, print it on a receipt printer, and hand-bind the results into a one-of-a-kind collective artist’s book.

KARL LARSSON is an artist who explores human interaction. His work examines how we influence and are influenced by one another, blending political and philosophical reflections with humor.

PUUT LIBRARY project presentation by Karl Larson

Myymälä2 Saturday 15th Nov 15-16:30

PUUT LIBRARY is an ongoing artwork by Karl Larsson, stemming from his long-term project  “Miljonprogrammet” (since 2003). Using a vast photographic archive of over two million images,  Larson creates self-published books that form the foundation of the PUUT Library. The project explores art, dialogue, and cultural accessibility, positioning the library as an act of resistance and a shared space for contemplation. Based on this material, Larson, in a DIY tradition, continuously makes his own publications – sometimes in collaborative form.

These titles form the basis of the PUUT LIBRARY. A core component of the library system is dialogue, as the entire concept is based on a structure of exchange. In times when collective culture is under attack, the library becomes an act of resistance – a place of contemplation, where everyone is given a place to be through collective ownership.

PUUT LIBRARY is a nomadic initiative that has visited different contexts such as artist’s books fairs, zine-fests, artist-run initiatives, as well as institutions in Wales, Turkey, Sweden, Romania and Denmark.

The PUUT Library contains 112 titles, has 186 members from 22 different countries, and made 127 loans during 2023.
