“Happily Ever After” is a Soothsayer’s folk tale spoken to a rapidly changing world. This Beautiful vortex of the make believe is a humbling statement which seeks to connect us to the animals who face us from their fragile habitats. The spectator is invited to encounter totems of the vanishing natural world through a vibrant lens whilst sensing an illusionary aftermath within the residue of Maria’s fantasy.
In her previous exhibition Maria Ader plays around with sentiments about hurting and the inevitability of suffering of the human soul, staging an epicenter of an emotional meltdown. In “Happily Ever After” she reflects those feelings out of that space, to let them escape into the wilderness where she disappears and all that is left is what has ever been.
On Thursday the 1st of September at 6pm we will be opening Maria Ader’s exhibition “Happily Ever After” at MYYMÄLÄ2 gallery.
Drinks will be served by Valmiermuiža Brewery. The exhibition will remain open until September 25th 2022.
During the opening there will be a food performance which guests are encouraged to enjoy as they participate in the experience.
Maria Ader is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tallinn, Estonia. During the years 2005-2008, Maria Ader studied painting at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tartu, in 2009-2010 she furthered herself in the field of painting at the University of East London and defended her master’s degree in 2011 at the Estonian Academy of Arts. She has participated in several joint exhibitions, the opening exhibition is her 10th solo exhibition.
Whilst having received a formal education in painting, in recent years she has turned her focus to the world of food design where by embracing new mediums and diverse techniques she now creates non-traditional eating experiences that blur the lines between sculpture, contemporary design and food.

“Happily Ever After” on ennustajan kertoma kansantarina, joka on osoitettu nopeasti muuttuvalle maailmalle. Mielikuvituksen kaunis pyörre on nöyrtävä lausunto, jonka pyrkimyksenä on yhdistää ihmiset eläimiin, jotka kohtaavat meidät hauraista elinympäristöistään. Katsoja kutsutaan kohtaamaan katoavan luonnon toteemeja eloisan linssin lävitse, sekä aistimaan illuusioiden jälkimaininkeja Marian mielikuvituksen jäänteissä.
Aikaisemmissa näyttelyissään Maria Ader leikittelee kivun ja ihmissielun kärsimyksen väistämättömyyden tuntemuksilla lavastaen emotionaalisen romahduksen keskittymän. “Happily Ever After” -näyttelyssä hän heijastaa tunteita tästä tilasta, päästääkseen ne pakenemaan luontoon, jonne hän itse lopulta katoaa jättäen jäljelle vain sen, mitä on koskaan ollut.
Torstaina 1.9. klo 18.00 avaamme Maria Aderin näyttelyn “Happily Ever After”.
Juotavaa tarjoilee Valmiermuižan panimo. Näyttely on avoinna 25.9.2022 asti.
Avajaisten aikana järjestetään ruoka performanssi ja vieraita rohkaistaan nauttimaan teoksesta samalla kun he osallistuvat kokemukseen.
Maria Ader on monialainen taiteilija Tallinnasta, Virosta.Vuosina 2005-2008 Maria Ader opiskeli maalausta Tarton yliopiston filosofian tiedekunnassa, vuosina 2009-2010 hän jatkoi maalauksen linjalla East Londonin yliopistossa ja teki maisterin tutkinnon vuonna 2011 Viron yliopiston Taideakatemiassa. Hän on osallistunut useisiin ryhmänäyttelyihin, tämä on hänen 10. soolonäyttelynsä.
Perinteisen taidemaalauksen koulutuksen lisäksi hän on viime vuosina keskittynyt ruokasuunnittelun maailmaan, jossa omaksumalla uusia välineitä ja monipuolisia tekniikoita hän luo nyt ei-perinteisiä ruokailukokemuksia, jotka hämärtävät veistoksen, modernin muotoilun ja ruoan välisiä rajoja.
