Nina Stuhldreher, *1973 in Duesseldorf/Germany, lives in Vienna /Austria. Ex-photography prodigy, ex-magazine editor, ex-media curator, ex-collaborative-workforms-junkie. Momentarily calls herself reality researcher who works with artistic strategies, employing a broad range of formats from drawings, rap performances and video installations to post-scientific conference formats. Exhibitions and performances at Shedhalle Zurich, ZKMax Munich, Lentos Museum Linz, Columbia University NYC, Secession Vienna*, Museum of Modern Art Vienna*, 3. Berlin Biennale*, Serial Space Sydney, and ATA Contemporary Art Center Bulgaria (selection).

18:00 Opening of students exhibition Valkoinen Valhe, Punainen Vaate (engl. white lie, red cloth) as outcome of workshop in the Art School Maa about the difficult and less remembered history of Suomenlinna as one of the prison islands during the 1918 civil war in Finland. The workshop was led by Minna L. Henriksson. Exhibition will run until 10.4.

17:00 Presentation: Andreja Kuluncic (Croatia).
Exploration of new models of sociability and communication situations, an interest for socially engaged themes, confrontation with different audiences, and collaboration on collective projects characterize Kuluncic’s artistic practice. She sets up her own interdisciplinary networks, seeing artistic work as a research, process of cooperation (co-creation) and self-organization. She often asks the audience actively to participate and “finish” the work.

Her work has been featured in exhibitions such as documenta 11 (Kassel), Manifesta 4 (Frankfurt/Main), 8. Istanbul Biennial (Istanbul), PS1 (New York), Whitney Museum of American Art (New York), Walker Art Centre (Minneapolis), among others.

She has participated in artist’s residencies at the Art in General in New York, at Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, at Artspace in Sydney, in 10th Tiennale-India. Lives in Croatia, where she works as assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb.W : http://www.andreja.org/

19:00 Kristina Norman (Estonia): Documentary Monument to Please Everyone /Et meeldiks käigile (87 min) In an atmosphere ripe with nationalism, two young engineers are commissioned by the Estonian Ministry of Defense to erect the countrys most important monument a statue commemorating the War of Independence. With strong political and social pressure, the heroes find themselves in many tragicomic situations and a constant row of ordeals. All of this paints a colorful and unique picture of the creation of a symbol during a time of financial crisis in Estonia.

19.00 Presentation of the publication and the project Under the Bridge Helsinki by Vladan Jeremic

The aim of the “Under the Bride Helsinki” project is to research the specific situation of the migrant Roma workers from the Balkans in Finland and to develop artistic and social relevant languages for understanding the situation and local contexts, discourses and concrete activities. Publication Under the Bridge Helsinki came out as a result of a workshop with X-OP Study Group that was realized in November 2010.

Contributions of the artists: Johanna Raekallio, Paula Lehtonen, Saara Hannus with Under the Bridge Helsinki comic/info chart by Vladan Jeremic and Zampa di Leone collective, and other artists, theorists and groups from Helsinki.

8th of April is The International Day of the Roma, a day to celebrate Roma culture and raise awareness of the issues facing Roma people.

Vladan Jeremic (born 1975) lives and works in Belgrade, Serbia. In his artistic practice he research the intersection between contemporary art and politics. Understanding the situationist derive in the urban landscape as a tool to detect the burning issues of a society, he develops an artistic method combining artistic intervention in urban space, documentary video, photos and drawing. Currently in the focus of his artistic research is the meaning of modernist urbanize today and the emerging social movements such as emancipatory movements of Roma in Europe. Vladan Jeremic holds M.A. in Arts, graduated University of Arts Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Since 2002 he works together with Rena Rädle as artist
duo.
